The Players Ball Brings the Funk at XSF ’08

LAS VEGAS — After a long day doing of business and networking at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, XBIZ Summer Forum attendees has the opportunity to get their pimp game on at the long-running party, The Players Ball. The event featured a live set by DJ Q-bert in addition to the funky grooves of Boogie Nights.

Moved from the Empire Ballroom to Asia nightclub inside Planet Hollywood, The Players Ball organized by D-Money, has been running for 10 years with more than 25 shows and was another successful event. The club’s cozy confines, plush couches and secluded corners provided a seductive setting for the show.

Partygoers were treated to a double dose of what makes The Players Ball famous — live music by top artists. Underground artist DJ Q-bert kept the crowd moving with his brand of crush grooves. An expert at scratching and drumming, Q-bert mixed heavy dance beats into his routine making it ideal for booty shaking — of which there was plenty.

The evening’s highlight came during the traditional awarding of the Big Woody. Web babe Trisha Uptown was honored with the giant wooden phallus for Miss Players Ball of the Decade. Uptown is celebrating her 10-year anniversary in the business and is relaunching her site under That One Program in the coming weeks.
