Amberly Rothfield to Speak at Sex Work Decriminalization Rally This Sunday in New York

LOS ANGELES — Adult industry consultant Amberly Rothfield will be among the featured speakers at "Sex Work is Work: A Rally for Sex Work Decriminalization" scheduled for Sunday, May 2, from 12-2 p.m. (PDT) at Tompkins Square Park in New York City.

The rally is sponsored by Adult Performance Artists Guild (APAG) and Eliza Orlins, a public defender with the Legal Aid Society and candidate in the 2021 New York County District Attorney election.

Rothfield will be joining APAG President Alana Evans and Secretary/Treasurer Kelly Pierce as speakers at the event.

“I am beyond honored to be a part of this movement,” Rothfield said. “Decriminalization is a very important step towards ending discrimination against the adult industry. Sex work is work and should be recognized and protected as such.”

"I have been fighting to decriminalize sex work in New York — and across the country — for as long as I've been a public defender," Orlins noted. "Our work as a movement is finally paying off, with big steps being made on legislative and executive levels across America, but we still have a long way to go to ensure that every worker is free from violence and punishment from the criminal legal system and society as a whole."

"I'm so glad to be joined by APAG, sex workers and activists for a 'Sex Work is Work' rally this Sunday to show our city — and the world — that Manhattan remains the centerpoint of progress and opportunity for all," said Orlins.
