Lovehoney Ruling Brings Down Another Bogus Online Store

Lovehoney Ruling Brings Down Another Bogus Online Store

PRAGUE — Lovehoney Group Ltd. this week was awarded yet another domain name that housed a copycat online store.

On Monday, the Czech Arbitration Court awarded Lovehoney.top to the Bath, U.K.-based sex toy retailer in a UDRP proceeding.

It is the third victory in three weeks for Lovehoney Group against cybersquatters trying to capitalize on its intellectual property.

Lovehoney Group claimed that the respondent named in the case, an entity named Li Wei Wei, registered Lovehoney.top in July to intentionally poach its customers and sell products online.

Lovehoney Group said it had no affiliation with Li Wei Wei or the website.

Lovehoney.top offered a full lineup of sex toys and novelties using Lovehoney Group’s familiar brand logos and was purportedly operated from China.

Lovehoney Group, which started up in 2002, operates Lovehoney.com and Lovehoney.co.uk online stores.

In January, Lovehoney Group was awarded Online Retailer of the Year (Pleasure Products) at the 2017 XBIZ Awards.

In the order transferring the domain name to Lovehoney, the Czech court ruled that the Lovehoney.top domain name was confusingly similar to Lovehoney’s registered trademarks in the E.U. and elsewhere.

The court also said that the respondent had no rights or legitimate interests in respect of the disputed domain name, and that the domain name was registered and being used in bad faith.

In three weeks, Lovehoney Group has won UDRP cases against the registrants of HoneyLoveToys.com, Lovehoney.online and now Lovehoney.top. All of those domains were ordered transferred to the company.
