DIMOCO Publishes Carrier Billing Market Report on Spain

VIENNA — European carrier billing provider DIMOCO says the digital content market for Spain will increase to ‎€1.26 billion (or $1.38 billion) by 2019.

With 49 million mobile subscribers, a 110.4 percent mobile (vs. 54.4 percent credit card) and a 54.5 percent smartphone penetration rate, Spain is one of the most highly developed mobile and carrier billing markets in Europe, said DIMOCO officials citing Juniper Research.

According to PwC, DIMOCO officials said, the digital content market will grow from a revenue of ‎€900 million in 2015 to a revenue of €1.26 billion in 2019.

“Billing 49 million mobile subscribers with only one interface is a powerful stroke rate. The Spanish carrier billing market is one of the most interesting ones in Europe,” said Gerald Tauchner, DIMOCO president and CEO.

Spain is one of the most highly developed mobile markets in Europe — 49 million Spanish mobile subscribers are spread amongst Telefónica (brand: Movistar with 35.8 percent market share), Vodafone (30.2 percent market share) and Orange (market share of 25.7 percent) and Yoigo (market share of 8.2 percent).

With DIMOCO carrier billing, online merchants can bill their consumers via their mobile network operator invoice.

According to Juniper Research, DIMOCO carrier billing generates a conversion rate seven times higher on first time transactions and 21 times higher on multiple transactions.

DIMOCO carrier billing in the Spanish market is available for mobile as well as classic web, allowing for billing of one-time purchases up to €30 and subscription orders up to ‎€6 a week (depending on the network operator).
