Katie Summers Drops Suit Against John Stagliano, Evil Angel

LOS ANGELES — Adult performer Katie Summers has dropped her lawsuit against director John Stagliano and his company Evil Angel.

Stagliano confirmed to XBIZ today that the suit was withdrawn Friday at Los Angeles Superior Court.

Stagliano's counsel, adult industry attorney Paul Cambria, of Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria, said that Summers' claims were bogus to begin with and no money changed hands.

"After I took her testimony, there was no doubt that the case had no merit," Cambria told XBIZ. "My guess is maybe she should stop listening to others."

In June 2013, the porn actress alleged “negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual battery and violations of California Business Professions Code Section 17200” because Stagliano didn’t inform her of his HIV positive status prior to her performing in the 2010 movie “Buttman’s Stretch Class 4.”

Summers had asked for monetary damages that include medical bills, future medical bills, loss of income, loss of future income, punitive damages, special damages and attorney’s fees and costs.

According to the lawsuit, Summers consented to Stagliano engaging in sexual contact within the context of her acting in an adult film. In the scene, Stagliano can be seen handing Summers sex toys and touching her ass, but he does not perform hardcore sex with her.

Summers claimed that had she known of Stagliano’s status prior to the scene that she would not have done it.

Summers’ attorney, Robert Starr, did not respond for comment to XBIZ today as to why claims were dropped. Summers was unable to be reached.
