Dave Pounder's 'Risky Business' Screens in Hollywood This Month

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Dave Pounder plans on screening his adult entertainment industry documentary, "Risky Business: A Look Inside America's Adult Film Industry," later this month at the Arpa International Film Festival in Hollywood, Calif.

The contemporary porn business documentary, which was released earlier this year, has had screenings in various film festivals nationwide, but this will be the first one in U.S.' porn capital.

The screening is slated for Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5:15 p.m. at the Arpa Film Festival, which is being held at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028.

Pounder is retired from the porn business after 10 years producing, directing and performing in adult films. He also operated Dave Pounder Productions and directed 100 titles for PIMPROLL, Hundies, Top Bucks, Python, Pay Serve, Blazing Bucks, Kink.com, Mayors Money, Rage Cash, Triple X Cash and BangBros.com, among others.

The movie, which had a budget of $50,000, examines the social, psychological and economic impacts of performing in adult films and asks the questions, what makes people decide to become adult entertainers, how do they go about entering the business, what are their experiences in the business, and how do they deal with career options, finances and relationships once they exit the business?

"Risky Business" also examines proposed regulations that would address current industry issues, including workplace health and safety, such as mandatory STD testing and condom use, and job discrimination once performers decide to leave the industry and pursue conventional employment.

Some Industry personalities interviewed for "Risky Business" include Cezar Capone, Jack Lawrence, Dale DaBone, Diane Duke, Daisy Duxe, Joy King, Michael Klein, Kaylani Lei, Sunny Leone, Howard Levine, J.D. Obenberger, Sixto Pacheco, Gregory Piccionelli, Dirty Sanchez, Puma Swede, Lawrence Walters and Michael Weinstein.

"I'm happy to report that Michael Weinstein of AIDS Healthcare Foundation and adult media attorney Larry Walters both agree that the film ...  is a fair, balanced portrayal of the issues facing the industry," Pounders told XBIZ. "It's hard to get two sides to agree on anything these days."

The 16-year-old Arpa International Film Festival, where "Risky Business" will be screened, places a focus on the work of filmmakers who explore the issues of diaspora, exile and multi-culturalism, with a strong emphasis is placed on ideals of independent thought, artistic vision, cultural diversity and social understanding.

Pounders said that there also will be another Los Angeles-area screening two weeks later on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m. at the Other Venice Film Festival, which is being held at Beyond Baroque, 681 Venice Blvd., Venice, CA 90291.
