Netflix Porn Search Engine Debuts

SAN FRANCISCO — A new search engine that promises “the best porn on Netflix” has debuted.

BateFlix.com allows users to search Netflix’s DVD-rental and streaming video library for all titles that contain sex and nudity.

According to the website’s about page, Netflix has 6,411 titles that fit the adult genre and contain nudity. Users can search by type of nudity, sexual activity, film genre, release date, MPAA rating and DVD vs. streaming availability.

Thumbnails of movie box covers and posters pop up arranged by level of explicitness from X to XXX.

There’s also an area where users can write their own reviews and rate the films similar to what’s available on celebrity nude website Mr. Skin.

The site’s creator told VentureBeat, “I created BateFlix to learn PHP and HTML. I’m not a Reddit reader but I have seen some interesting stuff people share from the site. BateFlix took a week to build. Most of the time was spent on finding a domain name, hosting a WordPress on GoDaddy, and customizing the twenty eleven theme.

"The rest of the stuff came naturally since part of what i [sic] do for a living is presenting actionable information from large complicated datasets. The Netflix API [application programming interface] is really nice and i [sic] wish more people will use it to create something other than a movie queue management app.”

Although the site bills itself as a porn search service, a random search for BDSM and group sex with XXX ratings turned up late night cable TV sex films rather than what most in the adult industry would consider XXX or hardcore.
