Video: Flynt Says Schwarzenegger Scandal 'Not Pretty'

SAN FRANCISCO — LFP founder Larry Flynt, who has been on a book tour for "One Nation Under Sex," has weighed in on the scandal involving former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Flynt told the San Francisco Chronicle's Joe Garofoli in a videotaped interview that Schwarzenegger's actions will reverberate for some time.

"The temperament from women throughout this nation is going to be felt on this issue," Flynt said.

"The transgression is not pretty," he said. "It's worse than Clinton's Monica Lewinsky [affair] but almost as bad as John Edwards'. This should have been a one-time thing because she worked in the house for 20 years. [The affair] was probably consummated all those years with this woman."

"Nobody is going to have any sympathy for Arnold," he said. "Nobody is going to feel sorry for him."

Schwarzenegger admitted on Monday that he fathered a child with a household staff member about 10 years ago. The woman was an employee of the Schwarzeneggers' for 20 years who retired earlier this year.

Flynt and professor David Eisenbach, a professor of American political history at Columbia University, argue in "One Nation Under Sex: How the Private Lives of Presidents, First Ladies and Their Lovers Changed the Course of American History" that sex scandals have influenced American history since the beginning of the nation.

Tonight, Flynt will sign his book at Books, Inc. at 1760 4th St. in Berkeley, Calif.
