Performer Tanya Tate Tries to Get Online Reality Show Off the Ground

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Tanya Tate's little idea turned into a big one.

The 30-year-old performer is currently seeking out a production company to help her shoot an online reality competition show about men who want to become a porn star. She's calling it "Tanya Tate Casting Couch."

Tate's online show isn't the first instance of an adult star soliciting talent from the masses. In 2006, Alana Evans sought out talent on MySpace, while in 2007, Tina Tyler's "Handyman" series showcased new male talent in solo shoots.

But Tate's idea was enough to get the attention of Ireland's Independent newspaper, which ran a story about her still nascent idea and inundated her with hundreds of emails from Irishmen of all shapes and sizes. Tate, a native of Liverpool, told XBIZ that she enjoys the company of Irishmen just fine, but she'd also like to solicit talent from other countries.

"The show's going to be about me introducing guys and getting them to talk about themselves," she said. "And then they'll perform with me or my friends."

Tate's official website, TanyaTate.com, now includes a banner that links to a working email address for her, tanya@tanyatate.com, where she'll continue to field submissions for her show.

Potential competitors should be aware that they'll have to submit pictures of themselves clothed and nude, as well as their email address, phone number, location and personal stats like height and weight. Competitors will also have to make their own travel arrangements.

But in addition to that, aspiring adult performers will also have to be able to deliver on camera.

"I want to get them to perform in ways they're not used to performing," Tate said, referring to the perennial need to maintain an erection during a scene, as well as the additional requirements to get into unusual positions and climax on cue. Tate speculated that her show might call upon the men to participate in adult-themed challenges, though she had a hard time imagining what those might look like.

Right now, Tate plans to shoot segments in Ireland and England. If she receives enough submissions from the U.S., she said she'll add a visit to Los Angeles.

Tate launched her personal website soon after she joined the adult industry. To date, it's still not represented by an affiliate company. She's appeared in about 40 scenes with more than 10 different companies, including Naughty America and Reality Kings, both of which were shooting overseas when they booked Tate.

Tate is currently represented by L.A. Direct Models. She isn't under contract to any studio.

"But I'm open to offers," she said.
