ObsessionArt.com Adds Work of Phyllis Christopher to Lineup

LOS ANGELES — High-end erotica website ObSessionArt.com has added the work of photographer Phyllis Christopher to its lineup of offerings.

Christopher will contribute 39 new prints to ObsessionArt.com's collection that come from a series she shot that documents the lesbian scene in 1990's San Francisco. She may contribute more photographs in the future.

According to site representatives, the collection seeks to capture the lives of lesbians of all stripes, from the most feminine to the most masculine and everything in between. Images of bondage, domination and other sexual action all get play in the collection.

“I’ve always insisted on shooting what I find sexy,” Christopher said. “To me, a woman who is excited about her sexuality is always going to look hot.”

Christopher added that she likes to explore all kinds of fetishes in her work.

"I was always sure I could determine what a girl might be like in the bedroom by her choice of footwear," she said. "I’m very influenced by gay male erotica, especially U.S. photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. Men have never spent a second denying their fetishes, so why should women.”

Lastly, Christopher said that she wanted to expand the world's visual vocabulary of lesbians with her work.

“There weren’t many representations of lesbians when I started out, so I started taking risqué photographs of my girlfriends," she said. "I started taking photos of them kissing. I love to watch women kiss. I will never tire of it.”
