PC Magazine Ceases Print Edition, Goes Digital

NEW YORK — PC Magazine, which built a strong reputation for the quality of its reviews and advice to tech buyers, will be available via digital delivery starting in February.

Along with that announcement, Ziff Davis Media, the magazine’s publisher, has renamed PC Magazine Network as PC Magazine Digital Network. Its flagship site, PCMag.com, reached more than 7 million unique monthly visitors — or 10 times greater than the circulation of the print edition, the company said.

For readers that prefer the traditional magazine feel, a digital version of PC Magazine will be made available.

"Moving our flagship property to an all-digital format is the final step in an evolutionary process that has been playing out over the last seven years," Jason Young, Ziff Davis Media CEO, said in a statement. "Since 2000, online has been the focal point where technology buyers get their information and technology marketers are directing their dollars to drive demand and build their brands. We have been carefully preparing for this step and are fortunate to have a digital business that has the scale, profit, and opportunity to carry the brand powerfully into the future."

Built around content, the PC Magazine Digital Network also enables brands to position themselves while driving measurable response results through innovative techniques. One of those includes audience targeting via Yahoo-branded properties.

"The Internet is a powerful marketing platform that combines perfectly with the highly contextual nature of our content and allows us to deliver marketers active buyers with powerful engagement and strong return on their investment,” Young said. “We have a great legacy of innovation in delivering on this promise that we expect to accelerate further.”
